Intuitive Body Scan Receptive Visualisation This is a simple self-awareness tool, which you can use for the rest of your life. It can help you to target problems areas, balance your perspective of your body ‘s wellness, and to maintain that balance. This technique is one of empowerment, helping you to take responsibility for your wellbeing. Practising this exercise can help you to develop sensitivity to your inner needs. During the exercise, you will focus mainly on eight areas of your body, seven of which are major energy centers of your non-physical body, plus your feet. You can optionally draw or write any insights or images you receive as you progress through these areas. It is best to do this until you become familiar with this tool. 1. Start by sitting in a comfortable position. Make sure your back is straight and your body is relaxed. Let your breathing be natural. Focus your mind, your awareness on your breathing for just a few minutes to settle down. Let go of any thoughts, images or feelings. Just let those flow away from your mind like clouds passing through the sky and just let your mind be right here in the present, being aware of your breath coming in and out, not thinking about anything else. 2. Take your awareness down into your feet and ask to be shown what your connection to the earth is like. Let it show itself to you as an image, colour, words or a feeling. Simply sense it and let it show you. You do not need to try. Just accept whatever happens, even if it is nothing. Now draw whatever image or words you received. Do not worry about artistic ability; simply draw whatever you have received. After your drawing feels complete, print one word that describes what feeling you had in relation to the image. What feeling did you experience? Now, in the bottom corner of your paper, write “Roots.” Put that drawing aside and take a fresh sheet. Settle and get comfortable again. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath, thanking your roots for this information. Take another deep breath, letting that image go, breathing out the feeling and moving into a neutral space. 3. Take another deep breath and move your inner focus to the base of your spine. This includes your legs, hips-joints, the rectal area and the base of your spine. Let this area show itself to you as an image, colour, words or a feeling. Simply sense it and let it show you. You do not need to try. Just accept whatever happens, even if it is nothing. Now draw whatever image or words you received. After your drawing feels complete, print one word that describes what feeling you had in relation to the image. What feeling did you experience? Now, in the bottom corner of your paper, write “Base.” Put that drawing aside and take a fresh sheet... Settle and get comfortable again. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath, thanking your base chakra for this information. Take another deep breath, letting that image go, breathing out the feeling and moving into a neutral space. 4. Take another deep breath and move your inner focus to your genital and pelvic area. This is your second chakra or sacral energy centre. The energy currents from this energy centre physically influence your sexual organs, lower intestine, lower vertebrae and bladder. Let this area show itself to you as an image, colour, words or a feeling. Simply sense it and let it show you. You do not need to try. Just accept whatever happens, even if it is nothing. . Now draw whatever image or words you received. After your drawing feels complete, print one word that describes what feeling you had in relation to the image. What feeling did you experience? Now draw whatever image or words you received. After your documentation feels complete, print one word that describes what feeling you had in relation to the image. What feeling did you experience? Now, in the bottom corner of your paper, write “Solar Plexus.” 6. Take another deep breath and move your inner focus to your heart and chest area. This includes the heart, lungs, shoulders, ribs, breasts, diaphragm, oesophagus and the circulatory and respiratory organs of the body. Now breathe fully through your mouth, feeling the air in your throat, breathing out through your mouth. Let your awareness focus in your throat area. This also includes your thyroid, neck vertebrae, throat, and mouth - including your teeth, jaws and trachea. Let this area show itself to you as an image, colour, words or a feeling. Breathe now and move your focus to the centre of your forehead. The physical parts of the body are your eyes, pineal gland, pituitary gland, your ears, nose and your brain. This area also includes your intellectual capacity. Now in the bottom corner of your paper write “Third Eye.” Put that drawing aside and take a fresh sheet... Settle and get comfortable again. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath, thanking your third eye for this information. Take another deep breath, letting that image go, breathing out the feeling and moving into a neutral space. 9. Now take a deep breath and move your inner focus up, just above the top of your head or skull. Subtle energy flows to the body from the crown of the head. The physical systems or functions of the body that it nourishes are the central nervous system, the cerebral functions and the total spinal column. Now, in the bottom corner of your paper, write “Crown.” 10. Next, lay the documentation or pictures out on the floor or attach to wall in the order in which you drew them. Notice what you see and feel in each, beginning from the Crown down or the Roots up. Observe in terms of energy flow, blocks, hot spots, conflict, radiance or expansion. Observe the relationship between areas in terms of your whole system. Consider the strengths and weaknesses of the system and whole flow. 11. Keep the documentation somewhere where you can see them until you do the next steps of balancing your whole system by transforming problem areas or enhancing positive areas. Keep a journal of insights as these may help you to recall subconscious thoughts, fears, memories, and spiritual insights in the next days. You may begin to feel energy moving in these areas. 12. If you had problems accessing information or images during this exercise, do not worry. If, for any area, you found a blank, or there was no image, take that as information that it is not ready to show itself yet. Give yourself time. Accept it as it is and check in periodically with no expectation. Familiarization helps this become easier. Each of these areas holds belief patterns and attitudes, which directly affect the quality of your life and health. If you presently have an illness in an area, what you experience can be an indicator of the situation there on a more causal energetic or psychological level. If imagery or feelings in an area indicate a blockage or conflict, this does not necessarily indicate a disease that has manifested. If you have no symptoms, it suggests the pattern that could manifest if no responsibility is taken to change it. If you are sharing your results with another person, it is important that they DO NOT INTERPRETE or DIAGNOSE FOR YOU!! If you are experiencing an immediate problem, this exercise may feel like avoiding the immediate problem. Instead do the Transforming Problems Receptive Visualization exercise focusing on this problem, and then use this exercise for a follow-up session. You can download the exercise for free by visiting www.LampOnThePath.org. Follow-up with Transformative Mindfulness exercises 1.Be sure to let your higher self intuit which area to transform first. Focusing on a positive or healthy area even more may lead to excess blocked energy in a blocked area next to the healthy one. Begin unblocking first, if your inner sense directs it that way. Relax first, then let your focus go to the most appropriate area to begin with. 2. Blocked, conflict areas: Do the Transforming Problems Receptive Visualization exercise, including the forgiveness step once the image has come to a sense of complete healing. This may take more than one session of Transformative Healing. 3. Positive areas: Do the Enhancing Positive Qualities Receptive Visualisation exercise with a focus on enhancing the positive area to its full potential. |
