Transformative Mindfulness Certified Practitioner Training Dates and Times - June 8 to October 27, 2013

Certified Practitioner Training Description

Transformative Mindfulness Methods (TMM) intervention strategies provide new skills for clinicians and educators. Less demanding than the most widely used mindfulness-based therapies, they build on basic mindfulness meditation accompanied by compassionate inquiry that easily accesses implicit memory through our ‘embodied mind’.

Simple, gentle, even playful, their experiential nature has made them easily accessible for all ages and cultures. By gently identifying our body’s reactions to emotions, challenging situations, suffering or pain then adding specific inquiry, we can access metaphors, words and feelings that link us to underlying belief, purpose and embodied wisdom. By using emotions and mindfulness of the problem with optional journaling or drawing, clients report a change in underlying beliefs, their causes and consequences by simply allowing a natural and often permanent transformation.

As Thich Nhat Hanh says “No mud, no lotus”.

TMM are adapted from ancient transformative practices by their developer, Dekyi-Lee Oldershaw, who is also the co-director of University of Toronto's Applied Mindfulness Meditation Certificate Program and a former Buddhist nun. The methods can be quickly learned and used for self-care and applied with others effectively. This highly adaptable protocol has been applied in healthcare, education and social work environments for over 20 years for cancer, cardiac, migraine, abuse, end-of-life care, learning problems, relationship, professional burnout and more. Research for acute migraines will be completed this year.

TMM is a health and social services program recognized by the Foundation for Developing Compassion and Wisdom whose patron is H.H. The Dalai Lama. For more information visit www.transformativemindfulness.com.
